Christmas 1953 Toy Drive, 1953 [photograph].

Toy collection, 17 December 1953. [Description from photo index.]. In 1953, more than 800 new and used toys were collected at JPL and donated to the Boys and Girls Aid Society of Pasadena, to be given to children who might not have received any other toys. The effort was led by nine members of the Toy Committee, who also repaired and refurbished toys, as needed. Almost 50 years later, the holiday toy collection is a continuing tradition at JPL. JET PROPELLED TOYS. 819 toys, donated by JPL employees, gladdened the hearts of children of the Boys and Girls Aid Society of Altadena this Christmas.
